5 must do things to make your life easier when transitioning your tot to a toddler bed

6:55:00 pm

I don't know what I really expecte when I decided to put Charlie into a toddler bed. But I knew I didn't want to wake up to loud toys singing and musical instruments creating chaos, if he decided to get out and play at 2am.

1. Pack away all highly stimulating toys
Start by putting away toys that play music and light up, this will encourage the child to go back to bed if he/she decides to climb out.
2. Replace with quiet time activities
In place of all Charlie's exciting toys, I left out books on display, his tee pee with soft teddies and blankets inside and a few building blocks.
3. Keep their bed as close to the cot environment as possible
I used the same blankets and placed his three teddies he sleeps with in the same positions as they were in his cot.
4. Make sure they can climb up and down unassisted
The most important tip! Your child must be able to climb in and out of bed unassisted before attempting the transition.
5. Attatchment a baby gate to their bedroom door
This last point is probably the life saver! No one wants their tot wandering around the house when everyone else is fast asleep (:
