Weaning and drying up your milk supply

10:49:00 pm

Wow! It's Saturday already, I deffinitely did not end up covering as much on this breast feeding topic as I would have liked. But I'm hoping that I helped at least one person with what I did blog about (: if so, it makes it 110% worth it!

I also just wanted to add that everything I write about is only my opinion and my own personal experience. If you do/did things differently it's not today your wrong. You do what's best for you and your cute bundle of happiness!

Firstly I'll tell you why I decided to wean and dry up and then I'll explain how I did so. (:

Why?
I loved every minute of my breastfeeding journey, the joy it brought me and the bond I shared with Charlie was magical! But it was time, Charlie was fussing lots on the breast and not wanting to nurse. Which was concerning me that he wasn't getting enough. He was also frequently feeding and it was just plain tiring! I think we were both just ready (:

How?
I went from breastfeeding each feed, to only breastfeeding every second feed and substituting the other feeds with formula. Then I started cutting back down a few more breastfeeds untill I was only breastfeeding at his night time feed. Which was great (: I had no problems with mastits or blocked ducts, no soreness or anything!
I then read somewhere that after 6months of age babies no longer need that night time feed, so I started substituting his feed for his dummy. After about three nights he no longer woke up for that feed! Crazy right? (:

I was thinking about doing a minni extra tomorrow about formula feeding? I'm not one of those only breastfeed your kids people. I also don't want formula feeding mums to feel left out! So I might do that 😚 stay stay tunned in! Remember to follow my Instagram account @mummyblogger and #yourmummyblogger! xx
